The homebuilders do not run this state...Anonymous,

The homebuilders do not run this state, but the sale of their product makes up a large percentage of the state's revenues each year. This is not a recent development, it has been this way for decades, long before Sen. Pearce ran for office.

The decline in new home sales is one of the primary reasons for the holes in this year's budget. And, every time the appropriation committees have been ready to roll out their budget, reports of new home sales come in dramatically below the projections on which their budget is based. So they have to go back to the drawing board. The state's budget office is usually able to forecast revenue with an admirable degree of accuracy, but this year their projections have been off by huge margins. The reasonable course of action is to get input from representatives of this segment of our economy. If they can't attend your meeting, then why hold it?

Our legislature has the unenviable task of making very tough decisions for the next few years. No matter what decisions they come to, people are going to be unhappy with them. Small minded people taking random potshots at them without knowing (or deliberately ignoring) the facts involved in these decisions don't make their jobs any easier.

If you would like to get an inside look into what goes on at the capitol, contact your state legislators and arrange to go visit them and even shadow them for a day. Senator Pearce has been a gracious host to me down at the capitol on numerous occasions, and being able to interact with him and the other senators/representatives in meetings and debates has been an eye-opening experience on how things happen at the capitol and what factors are affecting their decisions.Keeper of Bannershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06411545704906070536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-511988025181264553.post-79981331577223856412009-04-30T08:00:00.000-07:002009-04-30T08:00:00.000-07:00So when are you going to speak about how you are a...So when are you going to speak about how you are allowing the home builders run the state with the latest debacle in the budget hearings? You are becoming a disgrace to Mesa and this state. Your actions are why people are turning away from the GOP. Thanks for nothing Mr. Pearce.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-511988025181264553.post-13971232628832213712009-03-27T21:34:00.000-07:002009-03-27T21:34:00.000-07:00You know, I have grown sick and tired of the tacti...You know, I have grown sick and tired of the tactics you have done. you do some good, then you do some bad. That is the problem with the GOP. We think we have to cut taxes, let things go and then expect to have money to pay for things. Well, it has never happened and our system or fundamentals seem flawed. We are falling short on education and because of this; businesses will continue to look elsewhere because of the poor funded education system. Until the state reps get serious about our state, control sprawl, encourage reinvestment in our cities and education system and by attracting quality jobs with necessary tax breaks, this state will continue to go through this cycle of extreme ups and downs that destroy our vital systems of society.

I am sorry, but you have failed the good people of Mesa on many occasions. I just wish you would think of what is best for the people, not just your ideals of a libertarian.

I am happy that you did support the Gaylord project. That was a surprise.

I hope we can get things on tract and see what the real problems are with our state and city. We have great city leaders in office now, you and gray need to shape up and not mess this up by refering back to ol Mesa ideals that got us in this mess.

Good luck and I wish you the best.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
